PRPPB and Members Score Champion Supreme Titles

On Saturday November 5th the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band was presented with it’s second consecutive PPBSO Grade 1 Champion Supreme award at the Society’s annual awards gala. Also being recognized on the night were the Champion Supreme soloists including several members of the band.

Receiving the Champion Supreme Solo Awards were;

Grade 1 Snare – Iain Bell

Professional Snare – Mitchell Mackay

Piping, Senior Amateur Piob – Brendan Culver

Piping, Professional Piob – Liz Sheridan, sharing the award with Ian K. MacDonald

Congratulations to these members, well done and best of luck in 2012!

Peel Fans Generate Healthy Donation for JDRF

The Peel Regional Police Pipe Band along with Scantily Plaid and the Scottish Dance Company of Canada performed to an enthusistic crowd of 400 plus at Cawthra Park Secondary School in Missisauga on October 15th. Thanks to those who attended the concert the PRPPB and was able to present the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation with a $3,000 donation.

Much of the music that was performed during the show is contained in the band’s latest CD entitled Fever’ and is available through the web site or from band members.

Peel Band Awards

Recently the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band presented it’s 2011 PRPPB Awards. Pictured above receiving the Band Member of the Year award is Alec Patterson. Alec has shown great comittment and dedication to the band in the short time he has been a member. Looking after our drone sound along with providing assistance setting pipes for some of the younger members, Alec has become an invaluable assett to the PRPPB.

Sharing the Piper of the Year Award for 2011 are Calum Harper (left) and Tyler Harris (centre), shown here receiving the award from Pipe Sgt. Jake Watson. Both Calum nd Tyler have excelled in their first year with the band. Regular attendance combined with dedication and committment allowed these young pipers to earn a place in the circle in 2011.

Drummer of the Year honours went to tenor drummer Lauren Baines, shown here receovng the award from Drum sgt. Graham Brown. Lauren earned her award due to her dedication and enthusiasm. A near perfect attendance record along with a genuine enthusiasm for what the corp is doing resulted in her band mates putting Lauren forward for this award.

The Peel Regional Police Pipe Band Awards are handed out annually and the recipients chosen by the band members themselves. Congratulations to this years recipients.

It’s in the Can!

The Peel Regional Police Pipe Band spent the past two weekends at Escarpment Studios near Acton Ontario recording a new CD. This CD project, the first for the band in many years is expected to be available at the band’s concert on October 15th. Many long hours of preparation came to fruition on Sunday when the band completed the final take for the “Fever” CD. Below are a few photos of the band hard at it in the studios.

Street Cafe Event Brings Together Some of the Best

An event sponsored by pipesdrums.com brought four pairings of the world’s best pipe majors and leading drummers at the Piping Centre’s Street Cafe this afternoon. Among them were PRPPB Pipe Major John Cairns and Lead Drummer Graham Brown. This inaugural event drew a capacity crowd that were treated to a sneak peak at what the various Pipe Majors have in store fore us at the World Championships on Saturday.

Piping on the Clyde Concert Huge Success

Our first Glasgow event is in the books. The Piping on the Clyde concert went off without a hitch at a very unique venue. An old river ferry that has been converted into a club provided the back drop for the our concert. First time we have performed on the water all-be-it while still tied to the dock. Organizers reported that this was their fifth Piping on the Clyde event with the best crowd to date. Well done Peel!

Hello Glasgow

It Sunday August 7th and the majority of the band has arrived in Scotland. Mostly rain, periods of sun coming through and certainly much cooler than we have been used to this summer. Lots going on this week. Beginning on Monday the band will play at Piping on the Clyde, a concert that is part of World’s week here in Glasgow. Pipe Major John Cairns and Lead Drummer Graham Brown have been invited to play t the street cafe in a new event that will feature 6 pairs of the worlds leading pipe majors and lead drummers. Keep checking back as the week progresses for updates and perhaps a few photos.

Peel Police 2011 North American Champions

The Peel Regional Police Pipe Band won their second consecutive North American Championship on July 30th at the Glengarry Highland Games held at Maxville Ontario.

Competeing a contest that saw seven bands in the hunt for the title, Peel finished second in both the MSR and Medley contests which won them enough points for the win.

Congratulations to the other bands; Toronto Police, 78th Fraser Highlanders,78th Halifax Citadel, Oran Mor, City of Washington and the City of Chicago.

There are a couple of busy weeks ahead for the band as they prepare to travel to Scotland for the World Championships. The band will also perform at Piping on the Clyde, a popular concert held the Monday beofre the Worlds.

Kincardine in the Books

The Kincardine Highland Games and Scottish Festival is in the books. Held this past Saturday, the event started the day with a quick thunder storm followed by hot, hot, hot!! Congratulations to the 78th Highlanders Halifax Citadel for their win in the Grade 1 contest. Thanks to the Kincardine organizers for another great event in what can only be the best setting on the circuit! See you next

Remembering a Fallen Hero

The members of the Peel Regional Police Pipe Band would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of York Regional Police Constable Garrett Styles who died in the line of duty on Tuesday June 28th in York Region.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,the members of the York Regional Police Service and the greater community of York Region.
