About

The Peel Regional Police Pipe Band is going stronger then ever in this, its 35th year. Since September of  2008 when Pipe Major John Cairns took the helm of the band there have been many changes not only to   the membership, but the band’s repertoire as well.  Bringing with him a broad range of pipe band   experience that includes being one the worlds top solo players, an adjudicator and a much sought after instructor,   John also brings to the table a formal music education, work ethic and drive for perfection  that is second  to none.

The PRPPB currently has 40 members who come from all walks of life and bring an indeterminate amount of experience with them. Our members are police officers, lawyers, engineers, students, machinists, H.R. professionals to name but a few and all are tremendous individuals who share the common goal of being a competitive and successful grade 1 pipe band.

The band continues to exist thanks to the ongoing support of the Peel Regional Police Service and Chief     of Police H.M. (Mike) Metcalf and are proud of our long history with them. Each year the band participates in a number of events on behalf of the Peel Regional Police Service. These events include recruit graduation ceremonies, awards and promotion ceremonies and community events, however none are more important then our participation in the Ontario Police Memorial at Queens Park each spring and the National Peace Officer’s Memorial on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in the fall. These two events pay tribute to police and peace officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.

2011 will be busy for the band as we begin our contest season May 28th at the United States Championships in Alma Michigan on the U.S. Memorial Day weekend. We are also thrilled to be performing in concert at the Alam Highland Festival along side the newly formed Alma College Pipes, Drums and Dancers.

The Ontario season will see the band compete in Georgetown, Cambridge, Kincardine and Maxville. In early August the band will once again travel to Scotland, to compete at the World Championships on August 13th.

Thanks for visiting our site and check back often as we will try to keep the content as current as possible  as the summer progresses.
